OUR MISSION

The mission of Bayshore Counseling Services is to create a system of care that will engage individuals in prevention, mental health, and recovery services in order to become participants in a healthy community. We provide a complete range of mental health, chemical dependency, prevention, intervention and treatment services for adults, adolescents, children and their families in an outpatient setting. Consumers are expected to be an active participant in their treatment. All services are provided by qualified clinicians and therapists who adhere to their professional code of ethics.

Henrietta Whelan, MSW, LISW-S – Executive Director
Henrietta graduated with a Masters in Social Work degree from The Ohio State University. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with supervisory credential. Henrietta has been in the behavioral health field for 30-plus years. She has been at Bayshore Counseling since 1995 as a Mental Health Therapist, Clinical Director and is currently the Executive Director.

Melissa M. Fowler, M.Ed., LPCC-S, Sandusky Clinical Supervisor
Melissa has a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University. Melissa has been employed with Bayshore Counseling Services since 2014. She is currently a Mental Health and Addictions Counselor and is a Clinical Supervisor in the Sandusky office.

Tammy Henderson

MA, LPCC-S

Tammy attended Heidelburg University and graduated in 2011 with a Master of Counseling degree. Tammy became a provider at Bayshore Counseling Services in 2012. Tammy is a Mental Health and Addictions Counselor in the Sandusky office providing individual counseling services. Specific areas of focus include: trauma-informed care/EMDR therapy, Gambling Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Gwendolyn Hertrick

BS, CDCA

Gwendolyn has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from California University of Pennsylvania. Gwendolyn has been employed at Bayshore since May 2022 and provides individual counseling and group counseling sessions in the Sandusky office.

Julia Luévano

MSW, LSW

Julia has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The Ohio State University. Julia has been employed at Bayshore since March 2022 and provides individual counseling and group counseling sessions in the Sandusky office. Julia is also fluent in Spanish.

Karina Matthews

M.Ed., LPC

Karina graduated from the Ohio State University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Art in Psychology and minor in Russian. She graduated from Heidelburg University with a Masters in Clinical Counseling in 2023. Karina has been employed at Bayshore Counseling Services since March 2022 and provides group and individual counseling in the Sandusky office.

Dena McKillips

CDCA

Dena graduated from Lorain County Community College and BGSU/Firelands with an associate degree in science and nursing. Dena has been employed at Bayshore Counseling Services since September of 2019 and provides individual and group counseling in the Sandusky office.

Megan Olmstead

MSW, LSW

Megan has a Masters in Social Work from The Ohio State University. She is a Licensed Social Worker and has been employed at Bayshore since August 2023. Megan provides individual mental health and substance use counseling as well as group counseling in the Sandusky office.

Ágnes Soós-Toldy

M.Ed., LPC

Ágnes has a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Malone University and has been employed with Bayshore Counseling Services since 2021. Ágnes is a Mental Health and Chemical Addictions counselor, providing services in the Sandusky office with primary focus on trauma informed care, brain health and wellness. Ágnes is also fluent in Hungarian and Romanian.

Brad Downing

BS, LCDCIII

Brad graduated from Tiffin University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and has experience working with Juvenile and adult jail services. Brad joined the Bayshore team in 2019. Brad currently holds a LCDCIII License from the State of Ohio and provides groups, individual counseling, and assessments for clients and families as the coordinator of the Jail Life Recovery Program in the Erie County Jail.

Julie has a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Julie has been at Bayshore Counseling Services since 2011. She is clinical supervisor in the Port Clinton office.

Valerie Carman

Valerie has a Master of Arts in Psychology and Addiction Counseling. She provides Chemical Dependency counseling for the Port Clinton Office. Valerie has been employed at Bayshore since 2017

Suzanne Clinger

BSW, LSW

Suzanne has a Bachelor of Social Work from Youngstown State University. Suzanne has been employed with Bayshore Counseling Services since 2023 and is a Behavioral Health Therapist at the Port Clinton office.

Chelsee T. Smith

M. Ed., LPCC-S, LICDC-CS-GAMBp

Chelsee has a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Cleveland State University and a Chemical Dependency Certification from Cleveland State University. Chelsee has been employed with Bayshore Counseling Services since 2016 and is a Behavioral Health Therapist for the Port Clinton office.

Morgan Maxwell

CT, CDCA

Morgan holds a BA in sociology with a minor in music from Otterbein University. She is currently enrolled in Heidelberg University’s MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and is scheduled to graduate in July of 2024. Morgan has experience working with domestic violence survivors in both individual and group settings. Morgan has been at Bayshore Counseling Services
since 2023.

Prevention Health Staff

Carrie Kennedy, MSW, LSW, Prevention Supervisor
Carrie has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo (Social Work), Master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University (MSASS). Carrie has a license in Social Work and a credential in Early Childhood Mental Health. She has been working at Bayshore since 2010 in the prevention department and is currently the Prevention Supervisor for both Erie and Ottawa Counties.

Meghan Erney

BS Elementary and Special Education

Meghan studied Early Childhood Elementary Education with a specialized focus on Special Education. She has worked in education with a specialty in behavioral health prior to joining Bayshore Counseling in 2022, where she is currently providing prevention services for Erie County schools.

Erin Lucas

MSW, LSW

Erin received her bachelor degree in Social Work from Ohio University in 1996. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with her Masters in Social Work in 1999. She currently works in the Prevention department at Bayshore Counseling since August 2018.
