OUR MISSION
The mission of Bayshore Counseling Services is to create a system of care that will engage individuals in prevention, mental health, and recovery services in order to become participants in a healthy community. We provide a complete range of mental health, chemical dependency, prevention, intervention and treatment services for adults, adolescents, children and their families in an outpatient setting. Consumers are expected to be an active participant in their treatment. All services are provided by qualified clinicians and therapists who adhere to their professional code of ethics.
Annemarie Katz – Executive Director
Annemarie has been employed with Bayshore Counseling since 1997. She has performed a multitude of duties over the years including Support Supervisor, Billing Administrator, Human Resources, and Chief Operating Officer. As the mother of a child affected by addiction, Annemarie understands and appreciates the true importance of the invaluable work between counselor and client that has significant potential to make a difference in the lives of others.

Dr. Melissa M. Fowler, PhD., LPCC-S, Director of Clinical Services
Melissa has a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling and Psychological Services from Regent University and a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University. Melissa has been employed with Bayshore Counseling Services since 2014. She is currently a Mental Health and Addictions Counselor and is a Clinical Supervisor in the Sandusky and Port Clinton office.
Karina Matthews
MA, LPCC
Karina graduated from the Ohio State University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Art in Psychology and minor in Russian. She graduated from Heidelburg University with a Masters in Clinical Counseling in 2023. Karina has been employed at Bayshore Counseling Services since March 2022 and provides group and individual counseling in the Sandusky office.
Dena McKillips
CDCA
Dena graduated from Lorain County Community College and BGSU/Firelands with an associate degree in science and nursing. Dena has been employed at Bayshore Counseling Services since September of 2019 and provides individual and group counseling in the Sandusky office.
Megan Olmstead
MSW, LSW
Megan has a Masters in Social Work from The Ohio State University. She is a Licensed Social Worker and has been employed at Bayshore since August 2023. Megan provides individual mental health and substance use counseling as well as group counseling in the Sandusky office.
Brad Downing
BS, LCDCIII
Brad graduated from Tiffin University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and has experience working with Juvenile and adult jail services. Brad joined the Bayshore team in 2019. Brad currently holds a LCDCIII License from the State of Ohio and provides groups, individual counseling, and assessments for clients and families as the coordinator of the Jail Life Recovery Program in the Erie County Jail.
Penny Morgan
MEd, LPCC-S
Penny has a master’s degree from The University of Toledo and is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, along with a clinical supervisor endorsement. Penny has 25 plus years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Penny has training in several therapeutic approaches, including CBT, play therapy, and trauma. Penny provides individual, family, and couples’ therapy.

Valerie Carman

Valerie has a Master of Arts in Psychology and Addiction Counseling. She provides Chemical Dependency counseling for the Port Clinton Office. Valerie has been employed at Bayshore since 2017
Suzanne Clinger
BSW, LSW​
Suzanne has a Bachelor of Social Work from Youngstown State University. Suzanne has been employed with Bayshore Counseling Services since 2023 and is a Behavioral Health Therapist at the Port Clinton office.
Chelsee T. Smith
M. Ed., LPCC-S, LICDC-CS-GAMBp
Chelsee has a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Cleveland State University and a Chemical Dependency Certification from Cleveland State University. Chelsee has been employed with Bayshore Counseling Services since 2016 and is a Behavioral Health Therapist for the Port Clinton office.
Morgan Maxwell
MA, LPC
Morgan holds a BA in sociology with a minor in music. She obtained her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Heidelberg University. Morgan has experience working with domestic violence survivors in both individual and group settings. Morgan has been at Bayshore since 2023 in the Port Clinton office.

Carrie Kennedy, MSSA, LISW-S, Prevention Supervisor
Carrie has a MSSA from Case Western Reserve University. She has been working at Bayshore since 2011 in the prevention department and is currently the Prevention Supervisor for both Erie and Ottawa Counties.

Meghan Erney
BS Elementary and Special Education
Meghan studied Early Childhood Elementary Education with a specialized focus on Special Education. She has worked in education with a specialty in behavioral health prior to joining Bayshore Counseling in 2022, where she is currently providing prevention services for Erie County schools.
Erin Lucas
MSW, LSW
Erin received her bachelor degree in Social Work from Ohio University in 1996. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with her Masters in Social Work in 1999. She currently works in the Prevention department at Bayshore Counseling since August 2018.
Caitlyn Erney
RA
Caitlyn is a registered behavioral technician and has her CDCA. She is a Prevention Specialist and works in Erie County.
Kennedy Cantelli
Prevention Specialist
Kennedy is a Prevention Specialist at our Erie County office. She works with youth through classroom lessons, small groups, and one-on-one support to promote social-emotional learning and personal growth.
